| It's like saying a V12 will break because you're cramming more cylinders under the hood and therefore the parts must be smaller and weaker. There are plenty of 6-speeds that handle 1000-2000 hp, but they're in Vipers and Corvettes and Camaros and Mustangs. My guess is the generalization comes from the "import" crowd looking at 6-speeds designed for cars with no torque. A T-56 in a 250 hp car was still designed to go in cars with 500+ ft-lbs stock. An S2000 transmission has no possible stock application with more than about 150 ft-lbs. Ditto for Civics and Eclipses and the like. If your company's "flagship" is 250 ft-lbs, you're just not having your transmission built for triple that, so when some kid boosts his econobox to 30 psi and breaks something, "6 speeds are weak".
